I originally encountered Jamie Sams' work when I happened on her Sacred Path Cards book in Goodwill. The cards were missing, but the book immediately connected for me and I spent the entire next day reading it with my jaw on the ground. I knew I wanted the cards, too. I came online to look for them and saw all the negative feedback regarding the quality of the cards, and put off actually ordering them for several weeks.I'm so glad I finally did. The cards are a little "softer" than most of the card sets I've handled previously. They feel more like playing cards rather than oracle or divining cards. There's also some color variation in the backs, so that some are a deeper orange and others are a lighter orange. At first, I was disappointed by this fact.But once I started actually using them, the disappointment evaporated. From a practical standpoint, I don't notice the color variation while I'm using the cards, and the "flimsiness" is actually a bonus as they're actually really easy to shuffle and use. I bend them both directions on a regular basis to keep them from bending out of shape.From a spiritual standpoint, they are BY FAR my favorite set of cards I have ever used. They immediately became my go-to. I find their messages are so ridiculously spot on for me that it's almost unbelievable. I love how each card has a long storytelling component that explains their connection to the Seneca or other native tradition, and then a short section on the applicability. Having already read the book, I sometimes find I only want to reread the application section, and other times I enjoy and appreciate rereading the entire background.I cannot recommend this set enough, especially to anyone who is interested in the spiritual traditions of native American peoples.
Jamie Sams has a way with words that not only enlightens you but also makes you feel wonderful. I owned this deck years ago. It helped me get through the grief of losing my mother. Using this deck as well as the Animal Medicine cards is a wonderful way to start the day. If you are feeling good it supports that feeling, if you are feeling sad, depressed, or overly stressed they provide words of wisdom to help you work through this feeling. I love this deck.
Yes, the cards are not made of the thicker card stock-be mindful shuffling. The cards do slide well when shuffling and do not stick like some decks that I have experienced. The book in the set is a hardcover book and is very well written. For each card the author shares a story to help you fully understand the meaning and the depth of the Teaching behind and within the message/card.I have used the spreads shown in the book and they did bring a greater understanding. These cards are excellent for drawing a daily card to help you be the best version of yourself as you walk your Sacred Path and live your Sacred Dream. I have also used them in ceremony to gather wisdom pertaining to the ceremony held.I gave this card set 5 Stars because of the True Connection it gifts. Do not let the quality of card stock be the obstacle keeping you from developing your Relations. You will be missing out on something bigger than yourself if you choose to follow that detour sign.
I very much enjoy Jamie Sams books. Very uplifting and validating. However, I can only give this product 4 stars. The information is spot on, but the cards are a fail. I would gladly pay a higher price for this product if a better quality (thicker) card stock was used. I intend on doing readings for friends and family... these thin cards will not work for that. I will be headed to the local craft store to see if I can find a thicker card stock to paste them to. Sorry Jamie... love the book, but not the card stock. Please upgrade.
I don't think I have ever been so move by something in my entire life. This gave be goosebumps, made me cry, made me look at myself in a mirror that I had long ago cover with blankets, clothes to donate that I never got around to, and a ton of boxes, etc. you get the idea. Anyway, if you are wanting something to change you...this would be it!
There is not enough good i can say about this. They really make me think and appreciate. The insights gleaned are amazing. Native views are not so far off from mine, just different articulations. The depths of explanation and shared understanding in this package goes to my soul. The only 'problem' i have is, i get lost in deep thought and meditation while working with them and totally lost track of time :). It calms my heart to do so. So, so pleased. Thank you Jamie Sams for sharing your wisdom.
Book is excellent. However, the cards are paper thin. Difficult to shuffle. Easy to tear. My recommendation: don't buy this product. If you can find the original cards, then you're better off. For the price you're actually paying for the book. Disappointing to say the least.
These are wonderful cards...not really for use as a tarot deck but more of a tool for personal growth. Spooky accurate...in a good way. Native American wisdom at its finest. Comes with a thick hardcover book. I did do a mini reading (what advice/guidance do I need to know at present) and she said it was spot on.
