About the Author
Simon is a student of magic, occultism, and religion since the mid-1960s and the editor of the Necronomicon, Simon was a frequent lecturer for the famed Warlock Shop in Brooklyn and the Magickal Childe Bookstore in Manhattan for more than ten years before his sudden disappearance in 1984, speaking on topics as diverse as religion and politics, occultism and fascism, ceremonial magic, demonolatry, the Tarot, the Qabala, and Asian occult systems. He also conducted private classes for the New York City OTO during this period, with a focus on Enochian magic, "Owandering bishops," and Afro-Caribbean occult beliefs. An ordained priest of an Eastern Orthodox church, Simon has appeared on television and radio discussing such topics as exorcism, satanism, and Nazism. The media events he organized in the 1970s and 1980s -- with rock bands, ritual performances, and celebrity appearances -- helped to promote the "occult renaissance" in New York City. After decades of study in European, Asian, and Latin American cult centers, this book marks his first public appearance in more than twenty years.

Entertainment only. Was unable to summon any demons.
I read this as a 14yo and it was enjoyable, a little bit of horror and wonder. I didn’t take it seriously enough to try conjuring demons, but who knows. Maybe some kid will get possessed. That would be a hoot.
I'm not going into the legitimacy of this volume as that is a matter of personal belief. You know why you bought it.The quality of this book is excellent. It arrived promptly, shrink wrapped with no visible signs of use. Cloth bound hardcover, very good quality paper and printing. Well worth the price for those with an interest in this material.
Sent this to my friends house anonymously, about a week later we're controlling demons like a shin megami tensei game. 10/10 would recommend to everyone
As a historical piece it's great, but it's basically Babylonian and Sumerian mythology wrapped up in the shell of the Chutlhu Mythos. I enjoy it as a companion piece and flavor for Lovecraftian activities (games, etc).
I have always enjoyed this version of the Necronomicon, but it only addresses the Cthulhu Mythos on a very limited basis. Most of it comes from Sumerian mythology. The First United Church of Cthulhu's unholy book the ASTRONOMICON minorem is much better if you're looking for something Lovecraftian.
Confusing, and above my knowledge in this area of study..
Some aspects of this book I have found in the volumes regarding other paths, so to that I found the book interesting. I personally don't find the entirety of this book worth swallowing as truth however interesting it is. The fact that the editor stated as much in the introduction raised the book a notch in my estimation.
